Rhinoplasty
"Rhinoplasty is the procedure indicated to change the shape and size of the nose, and achieve an aesthetic appearance, in harmony with the facial features."
In primary Rhinoplasty, the surgeon separates the skin of the nose from the cartilage structure in which it is supported, to shape it in the desire way. Once this is done, the skin is placed back over the new structure.
In most cases the procedure is performed by making the incision inside the nose, but in complex cases the surgeon may indicate an open procedure, where he makes a small vertical incision through the tissue, separating the nostrils.
In addition to primary Rhinoplasty, the surgeon lifts the tip of the nose, constricts very large nostrils and performs highly complex and
reconstructive surgeries. If necessary, breathing problems are solved in the same surgical act.
The surgery is performed under local anesthesia plus sedation, and can last between 2 to 3 hours or so. In most cases the procedure is
outpatient, although there is the chance that the surgeon recommended an overnight stay in the clinic, for control purposes. The
post-surgical recovery is quick and hassle free.
In the next few days the patient can resume the normal working life, although without engaging in activities requiring physical exertion
during the first days after surgery.
