Otoplasty
"Otoplasty is a simple surgery that modifies the shape and size of the ears, and corrects the angle with face, to make it look nicer."
The surgeon corrects irregularities of the contours, as ear-shaped tip, bent down, and reduces the projection of prominent ears. The surgery is performed through an incision behind the ear, and from there, the cartilage is molded to stay closer to the head, with a harmonious appearance.
Simultaneously, the procedure modifies lobe abnormalities due to rupture in the earrings hole, scars originating from previous surgeries, and enlargement due to the passage of time.
The final result of Otoplasty is a change in the shape of the ears of the patient and in her/his self-esteem. As a purely aesthetic
procedure has no side effect on the hearing.
The surgery is performed under local anesthesia plus sedation, and can last 2 hours or so. The procedure is outpatient; after the surgery is done,
the patient remains for a few hours in the clinic and then is discharged. The post-surgical recovery is quick and hassle free
In the next few days the patient can resume the normal working life, although without engaging in activities requiring physical exertion during the first days after surgery.
