The shape of implants varies depending on the material they are composed. If necessary, the surgeon can carve the implant to fit the facial structure of the patient.
The surgery is performed through an incision in the mouth between the gum and lower lip to prevent scarring. In some cases, the incision
is made under the chin; the implant is inserted and positioned in front of the jaw.

The surgery is performed under local anesthesia plus sedation, and can last 2 hours or so. The procedure is outpatient; after the
surgery is done, the patient remains for a few hours in the clinic and then is discharged. The post-surgical recovery is quick and hassle free.
In the next few days the patient can resume the normal working life, although without engaging in activities requiring physical exertion during the first days after surgery.
