For this procedure, the surgeon works with three different types of prosthesis: Ambicor AMS ®, Dynaflex and Mentor; all internationally
recognized quality standards.
Malleable prosthesis: a device for permanently stiffness. It is positioned down during everyday activity and to the eye is a
penis in flaccidity. When in sexually active, is placed in position for intercourse and it looks like erect penis.
Inflatable prosthesis: is a fluid-filled device that inflates getting an instant erection. It feels and looks like a normal penis.
The implant allows regaining an erection firm enough for sexual intercourse with the same sense of pleasure, orgasm and usual ejaculation usual.
The surgery is performed under local anesthesia plus sedation, and can last 2 hour or so. In most cases the procedure is outpatient,
although there is the chance that the surgeon recommended an overnight stay in the clinic, for control purposes. The post-surgical
recovery is quick and hassle free.
The patient should rest the first 24 hours and then resume his normal life without engaging in activities requiring physical effort for
approximately two weeks. Also, it is important to abstain from sexual intercourse for three weeks. After this period the patient can
resume the sexual activity.
